How To Deal With The Stares

Updated: Dec 20, 2018

Staring is always an annoying part of your day, frustrating, and always

reoccurring act in our everyday lives. Some ladies deal with it in a positive

way and some deal in a negative way. Where I come in the mix, is well half

and half every day. I can’t tell you how many times I woke up in a good

mood and came back home in a bad one. Being tall is like something the

public has never seen (*dramatic rolls eyes*). The way they look at you up and down, whispering

to their friends and family, and asking you theeee dumbest questions.

Now I’m the one to reply with respect and kindness once the person gave me the same energy back. However when the person comes up to you is pushy and a little rude everything goes downhill. I’ve been the one to yell, scream and even curse at you, but it has gotten me the angry black TALL girl and I don’t like it so lately I have been making a cautious effort to stop those type of actions. Nowadays I learn to just be zen with yourself and just

simply….walk away. Yes, ladies walk away there is nothing in this world

better than a person waiting for a response from you and you walk right

pass them. It was one day I literally was so mentally tired in my life and I

all I wanted to do in the mall was find some heels for an event that I was

going to later that night.

Until I was harassed and stare down the whole time in every store I stopped by in. Even in the food court before handing over my food I get asked “How tall are you”?

With all those scenarios come with me simply ignoring them in addition to…. answering a question with a question. It was the best thing invented for my life, it works like a charm to see the person’s reaction speechless. It just sucks that people don’t respect boundaries with the questions and assumptions that they come up with asking.

It is something us #highviewers have to deal with for the rest of

our lives. I am not going to sit here and write this to you guys saying one

day this will all change. It’s something we have to deal with for the rest of

our lives but with our actions in a progressive note we can show the

younger generation there is nothing to dwell upon. Those 2 solutions I can say are very equitable with dealing

with the public stares and questions, stay tuned to learn more my

With love,

My Highview
