September 13th 2019 was the premier of the movie TALL GIRL finally a movie that represents #MyHighView and the foundation entailed to it. I was very happy about the movie because it shed light on the societal issues we have with women being different from each other in looks. Tall Girl is based on the main character Jodi (Ava Michelle) she has always been the tallest girl in high school sounds very familiar lol I was always the tallest girl in high school, stood out all the time when I didn’t want too in some cases. The difference is she was always uncomfortable with it throughout her years and I grew out of my uncomfortable stage after my freshmen year. Jodi meets her crush Stig (Luke Eisner) a very handsome Swedish exchange student who is about the same height maybe a little taller than Jodi. So as the connection grows between Jodi and Stig, Jodi gets herself in some love triangle drama. Before Stig and Jodi had grown feelings for each other, Stig was involved in a relationship. With the help of her two best friends and her older sister she realizes that she’s beautifully unique and that she deserved way better than what she was currently getting. To embrace her height and come to realization that she’s made to be tall and stand out. With her love life she knew what had to be done.
The moral point of the movie is too teach young women that everybody in this world won’t look alike, dress alike or act alike and that’s ok because that’s the beauty of human nature and life. I hope in the future we can have more movies, tv shows/specials and documentaries about being tall for women. It’s such a “brush under the rug” topic, in high school I had my stages of not liking how I looked and it affected my life in every way. With seeking God to my fullest potential and taking my feelings day by day I figured that I love why God made me different I wanted to be an example for younger girls to love their selves and know that regardless of what a man or woman says about you, you have to confident in yourself that you're a GEM. It’s easier said than done most of the time, not going to lie I have my days where I don’t feel my best (who doesn't though?) but just self-talk helps me through my bad times. If you haven’t watched TALL GIRL do so now, great movie with a great a teaching point! I hope everybody who reads this posts know that you’re beautiful with your flaws and all, in addition to always be authentically you. Until next time…
With Love,
My Highview
